Monday, May 31st 2010 The Finish Line! (Day 3)
Machines will head through Morgan Slough to the Ferndale Finish Line, getting a late start, due to the tides. The fastest machines will probably hit the Finish Line around 3:30pm, and the course closes at 5:51pm. Join us for the Awards Dinner (catered by Banana Hut and only $10!) at 7:07pm at the Ferndale Fireman's Pavilion.

Sunday, May 30th 2010 The race continutes! (Day 2)
Racers head into Humboldt Bay at the dock near the Wharfinger Building, and out under Samoa Bridge. They wind through Eureka to a lunch stop at Eureka Natural Foods, down the highway to a College of the Redwoods brake-check (a great Spectator Spot with live music, food vendor and more!), then end up at Crab Park (near Loleta), to rest up for Day 3.
Saturday, May 29th 2010 First day of the 2010 Kinetic Grand Championship!
The race, held every year on Memorial Day weekend, starts on the Arcata Plaza at the Noon whistle, heads out through the Arcata Bottoms, into the Manila Dunes (and the Kinetic Kids Fair at the Manila Community Center), out through the Samoa Dunes, and ends up at the gazebo in Old Town, Eureka, on Day 1.
Join us for the Super Secret Kinetic After Party at Halvorsen Park in Eureka's waterfront from 4-8pm, for a New Belgium beer garden, bounce house for the kids, live samba music and the Shea Freelove Circus!

Sunday, December 20th 2009 WINNER! Heather Ahern
Our Bike Raffle winner is Heather Ahern. Thank you to New Belgium Brewery for donating this beautiful Schwinn Cruiser to the race for us to raise money. The raffle was very successful. Heather is a sign language interpreter and works for a copier in Arcata. She said she will be able to bike around town more often with her new Cruiser!
Monday, May 25th 2009 Race to the Finish Line!
The last day of the race begins at Noon, when the Sculptures launch into the mouth of the Eel River from Crab Park. They come out the other side at Morgan Slough and then head into Ferndale for the glorious finish line.
Spectators can enjoy the fun and frolic at the finish line on Ferndale's Main Street from Noon to 5pm. The teams then head-up to Fireman's Hall for the Final Awards Dinner. Spectators are welcome to attend the awards dinner, dinner tickets are $10 (to pre-purchase dinner tickets, call (707) 889-3024).

Sunday, May 24th 2009 Day 2 of the Race!
Starting at 10:00 am in Eureka from the small boat ramp near the Wharfinger Building this year, kaptains of their kinetic kontraptions will set sail on the Humboldt Bay, braving the chilly waters for grand kinetic glory! Come and watch them sail, sink or swim! They will exit under the Eureka bridge at the end of Halvorsen Park.
The Sculptures will head down through Eureka and stop over for lunch at Eureka Natural Foods around Noon/1pm. Then the Sculptures will continue on to College of the Redwoods and up the treacherous Hookton Hill. Then they disappear for the night, sorry Spectators, we will see you on the Finish Line in Ferndale!

Saturday, May 23rd 2009 The Race Begins!
Join us on the Arcata Plaza from 9am to Noon as racers show-up for their brake tests. This is an excellent spot to meet the racers and see their Kinetic Kontraptions up close. At Noon is the Le Mans start (be sure to keep your feet out of the street!) and racers circle the plaza before zooming out on the race course.
Spectators can catch up with the Sculptures at the Manila Community Center where kids can enjoy their annual kids fair and see the racers gear-up for the sand. Then shoot down the street to Deadman's Drop to see the sculptures climb up and shoot down this big sand hill. Deadman's Drop is near the end of the Eureka Bridge.
Sculptures then head to the Day 1 Finish Line at the Gazebo in Eureka and will continue on to Halvorsen Park.

This year's Rutabaga Ball will feature Eyes Anonymous (The 80's Mercedes for the Ladies).
The Rutabaga Ball will be held at the Portuguese Hall on Saturday, May 16th. Doors open at 7pm. $10 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Kinetic Grand Championship.
Try the Queens' newest Kinetic Kocktail: The Royal Rutabaga Razzle Dazzle. Enjoy beer from New Belgium Brewery (Fat Tire, 1554 and more!) and red and white wine. Non-alcoholic drinks also for sale.

Come down to Ferndale on May 10 and bring your kinetic sculptures! The Kinetic Classic is a tribute to the first race on Mother's Day in 1969 when renowned artist Hobart Brown challenged Jack Mays to a race down Ferndale's Mainstreet.
